Trina Backpack PDF sewing pattern

Trina Backpack PDF sewing pattern

**DIGITAL DOWNLOAD sewing pattern**  Watch the video walkthrough here.

Make the Trina backpack - available in three size options. Any woven fabric will work, also vinyls, corks, and pu leathers / vegan leathers.

The Trina Backpack sewing pattern (PDF instant download) comes in three sizes and can be made with any woven fabric, or soft vinyls such as metallic crackle, pu leather, and a mixture of corks and quilting cottons. Example photos show Metallic Crackle vinyl in my shop and quilting cotton.

Trina has two zipper security pockets, one vinyl (or cotton) slip-in pocket, two expanding side pockets for water bottles, adjustable straps, a loop hanging section, and optional key fob holder inside.

I like the bag made with foam interfacing best, but fusible fleece and/or quilt batting work too - and have been tested. They will make for a "squishier" bag.

Small 12" x 13" x 3"
Med 15" x 16" x 4"
Full Large 16.5" x 18.5" x 5"   Please note the large is REALLY LARGE! 😂

Materials, Supplies & Tools (full size):

  • Exterior fabric: approx 1.25 yds
  • Vinyl: One piece 19” x 10” for optional slip-in pocket inside the bag
  • Lining fabric: approx 1.75 yds
  • Webbing: 2.5 yards - I highly recommend 1 1/2” width heavy-duty cotton or nylon blends webbing. (Do not use polyproylene webbing (stiff and plastic feeling) unless you can treat all raw ends with a lighter or non fraying glue. I’ve had bag straps break on me when made with polypropylene - use with caution.)
  • Wright’s Extra-Wide Double-Fold Binding tape: Two packages or approx 6 yards
  • One 30” double headed zipper (Handbag preferred - they have wider tape 4.5 or 5mm)
  • Two 12” pocket zippers
  • 1/4” elastic two 7” pieces
  • Two D-rings 1 1/2” width
  • Two adjustable sliders 1 1/2” width
  • (Optional) lobster clasp key ring holder 1/2” width
  • Pellon SF101 for all lining pieces except pockets. (This is approx 2.5 yds of 20”wide Pellon.)
  • One package 38” x 58” By Annie’s Soft & Stable or Pellon Flex Foam for main body pieces & zipper panel. You may also use fuseible fleece or quilt batting for your bag interfacing, it will be softer and not “stand up” like foam however.

Cutting chart inside pattern for easy reference.

Tested by Sewists of varying skill. Full color photos and diagrams throughout.
